MIAMI AND CASS COUNTIES, Ind. – Wabash Valley Power has started construction on its first solar park in Indiana at the headquarters of Miami-Cass REMC, which provides electricity to approximately 6,000 customers in Miami and Cass counties. The solar farm will consist of 2,040 panels and produce 540 kilowatts of energy, which is enough to power approximately 80 averaged sized homes for a year. Wabash Valley Power is leasing 3.5 acres of land from Miami-Cass REMC to build the park, which will be located just north of the intersection of U.S. 24 and U.S. 31. Lisa Richardson, communications manager for Wabash Valley, said construction on the park started in February and should be operational by early fall. The new solar park will be the second to open in Peru in the last two years.
