Wabash Rotary Club announces its 31st Annual United Fund Kick-Off Event

WABASH COUNTY, IN- Wabash Rotary Club will signal the beginning of the Wabash County United Fund’s 2022 Campaign with a benefit Golf Outing on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.  The Golf Outing will begin with lunch at noon hosted by Miller’s Merry Manor, followed by a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m.at the Honeywell Golf Course.

“Wabash Rotary Club brings the business community together on the golf course in support of the work of all the United Fund agencies,” stated executive director of the United Fund, Steve Johnson.  “United Fund agencies provide the most basic of needs for Wabash County families, such as food, shelter, medical services, and educational support.”

Many Wabash County individuals and families are struggling to recover from the devastating effects of the pandemic and the skyrocketing cost of living.  Some of them will reach out to social service organizations to ask for help. Wabash Rotary Golf Outing joins United Fund in supporting the organizations that assist those people who are in need.

Mindy Mayes, 2022 Wabash Rotary President and Purdue Extension Wabash County Extension Educator – HHS, “Rotary is excited to once again host this event in which 100% of the proceeds remain in Wabash, IN. As an Extension Educator, I have had the opportunity to partner with many of the organizations the United Fund supports. As a Rotarian, knowing an event that our club hosts can help generate some of these funds directly supports one of our many goals within Rotary, to improve the lives of others. As Rotarians we take action to change the world.”

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the United Fund, which in turn will be invested back into the community through financial support to local non-profit agency programs.  One unique aspect of the Rotary Golf Outing is that representatives from each of the funded agencies will be located throughout the golf course to meet and greet the golfers as they play through.

Miller’s Merry Manor is proud to be a sponsor of this year’s golf outing by preparing and serving the meal for the event.  This year’s hole-in-one sponsor is Dorais Chevrolet, Buick, GMCwith insurance coverage provided by INGUARD.  Rotarians Kevin Trotter, and David Mann join Mayes, Johnson, Danielle Gargiulo and United Fund staff to round out the planning committee for this year’s event.

Wabash County United Fund Board President, Julie McCannadded her appreciation, saying, “We are so thankful to the Wabash Rotary Club for supporting the work of the Wabash County United Fund.  The golf outing is our opportunity to work together to support families in need.”
