Wabash County United Fund applications due July 1

WABASH COUNTY, IN- Wabash County United Fund, Inc. (United Fund) is now accepting funding applications for its 2022 Annual Campaign, announced Steve Johnson, Executive Director of United Fund.  Eligible agencies include 501(c)3 organizations serving Wabash County.  Organizations interested in receiving a portion of this funding for specific programs must complete and submit an application and budget summary to United Fund by noon on Friday, July 1, 2022.

In order for programs to be considered for funding, they must address the human service needs of their clients and meet one or more of United Fund’s focus initiatives:

  1. Education: Address the education challenge by offering effective strategies and approaches to all income levels, especially early childhood education, in order to increase graduation rates and create educated communities in Wabash County.
  2. Health/Healthy Living: A healthy lifestyle typically leads to a longer, more productive life. Community members are connected to available physical and mental health support resources.
  3. Income/Financial Stability: Strategies for community change that help families meet their basic needs, gaining the financial capability to accomplish their long-term financial goals.

Julie McCann is the 2022 president of the United Fund Board of Directors.  McCann and the UF Board will select and assign the annual funding awards for agencies that have applied for financial support.  Agencies that are selected for funding will typically provide support and assistance to families in need.  The pandemic was a significant challenge for many families.  Now, the high cost of living during this post pandemic time is adding even more financial stress to many who were already struggling.

Agencies must be organizations that provide services to our friends and neighbors families who may be struggling to make ends meet.  Agencies must agree to maintain 501(c)3 status, must have a local volunteer board of directors that meets regularly, must keep accurate records that conform with Standards of Account and Financial Reporting, and must submit quarterly program reports of activity to United Fund.  Funding for selected agency programs will begin in January 2023.

A volunteer board of directors governs Wabash County United Fund.  Nineteen local non-profit agencies currently receive financial support from the annual United Fund campaign.  These agency programs feed the hungry, mentor youth, provide medical care and housing assistance, educate citizens, advocate for victims of abuse, and transport young and old.
