Union City man arrested for Possession of Child Pornography


Union City, IN- On Monday, February 19, 2024, detectives from the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) and detectives from the Indiana State Police Pendleton District arrested a 64-year old Union City man on charges of Possession of Child Pornography following a search warrant at his residence.
The investigation began in July 2023 as an internet tip and started an undercover operation. During the seven month investigation, detectives were able to determine that an individual at a residence near the 3000 block of S County Road 900 E in Union City, Indiana was in possession of child pornography. During the service of the search warrant, the Indiana State Police electronic detection K-9, Titus was utilized and several electronic devices were found and seized. Detectives located and arrested Wade Dean McDermitt, 64, of Union CIty.
Wade Dean McDermitt was transported to the Randolph County Jail without incident and preliminarily charged:
• Indiana Code: 35-42-4-4(d), Possession of child Pornography.- Level 5 Felony
• Indiana Code: 35-42-4-4(e)(l)(F), Possession of Child Pornography, possession child pornography depicting child under 12 years old.- Level 5 Felony
• Indiana Code: 35-42-4-4 (d) A person who, with the intent to view the image knowingly or intentionally possess or accesses an image that depicts or describes sexual conduct (1) by a child who the person knows is less than eighteen years of age – Level 6 Felony
• Indiana Code: 35-42-4-4 (d) (1)(3) A person who, with the intent to view the image knowingly or intentionally possess or accesses an image that depicts or describes sexual conduct that is simulated sexual conduct involving representation that appears to be a child less than eighteen of age. – Level 6 Felony
