Peru High School graduate gains experience
at Indiana Statehouse

STATEHOUSE – Mya Lancaster is serving as an intern for the Indiana Senate Majority Caucus during the 2024 legislative session, said State Sen. Stacey Donato (R-Logansport).

Lancaster, a resident of Peru, is the daughter of Amy and Keith Lancaster. Lancaster graduated from Peru High School and is now a junior at Purdue University studying political science.

“I love when young Hoosiers take an interest in the legislative process,” Donato said. “I know this internship will prove to be very useful to Mya and I look forward to seeing more great things from her in the future.”

As a legislative intern, Lancaster tracks and analyzes bill data, provides constituent services, staffs Senate committee hearings and meetings, and conducts legislative policy research.

“I’m very fortunate to be able to see the legislative process firsthand, to represent my college and to have found something I’m passionate about,” Lancaster said.

Senate Majority interns work through the duration of the legislative session, which is scheduled to end by March 14.
