PERU,Indiana — In conjunction with local agencies, the DEA is investigating the Pain Management Center of Indiana clinic in Peru and two other Indiana cities for the alleged over proscribing of prescription drugs possibly linked to overdose fatalities. Boxes of records were reportedly removed from the Pain Management Center of Indiana Peru clinic, located at 82 East Third Street, after an investigation began as a result of individual complaints. The home of the Peru clinic’s main physician was reportedly searched Friday.
Bruce Embry, Prosecuting Attorney for Miami County, told media that the a determination of potential criminality based on the evidence recovered on Friday could take several weeks to complete. The Miami County Prosecutor assisted in the investigation along with the Indiana Attorney General. The other two clinics are located in Bloomington and on the south side of Indianapolis. No charges have been filed at this time.
