North Manchester Woman Facing Drug-Related Charges After Shoplifting

WABASH,Indiana – Another alleged Walmart shoplifter is in jail at this hour facing unlawful possession of a syringe, unlawful possession of a legend drug and possession of a controlled substance charges, in addition to charges of theft. Amanda M. Webb, 35, North Manchester, was alleged observed putting several cosmetic items in her purse by a Wabash Walmart employee on May 21st. Webb apparently got beyond all points of sale before she was stopped and asked for ID. When Webb stated she did not have any ID on her, police were called.

According to an affidavit of probable cause by Officer Andrew Johnson, when police searched the woman’s purse they found a syringe. After Miranda rights were read, police say that Webb stated that the purse wasn’t hers. When asked by police, Johnson’s affidavit states that Webb added that, despite the evidence on Webb’s arm, she had not used methamphetamine in two weeks.

Officers also found four pills in Webb’s purse. Incredibly, she told police that a cattle farmer had given her the pills because she had a tooth pulled the day before. Johnson’s affidavit states that he was later advised that jail officers found more pills on Webb when she was booked into the Wabash County Jail. One pill found was a schedule 4 controlled substance.

In addition to the cosmetics found in Webb’s purse, a review of the security footage allegedly found that she also concealed beef jerky and a bic lighter. The total amount of the items found in her purse came out to $129.09. The total amount of Webb’s personal appearance bond to get out of jail is $12,000.
