North Manchester Man Arrested for False Reporting and Misuse of 911

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – Around 12:23 am, Sunday, July 9, 2017 the North Manchester Police Dispatch received a 911 call about an attempted armed robbery that had just occurred in Warvel Park. The complainant, Jordan A. (Wells) Hammerschmidt, 22, of North Manchester, told police he had been approached by a man with a knife demanding his wallet. Hammerschmidt told police he pulled out his gun and the man fled. After further questioning, Hammerschmidt admitted to police he had made the incident up. Hammerschmidt was arrested on charges of false reporting and misuse of 911. North Manchester Police were assisted by Wabash County Sheriff’s Department.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation. Every defendant is innocent until proven guilty.
