MSD School Board Meeting Highlights

WABASH COUNTY, Ind. – The MSD school board met on Tuesday night, February 13th. Superintendent, Mike Keffaber, gives us a few of the highlights:

The Metropolitan School District of Wabash County Board of School Trustees met to conduct business last evening.

Several donations were accepted:

Over $4025.00 was donated to MSD schools

Mrs. Kari Johnson’s Marketing class showed the video they created for MSDWC’s website.

Southwood Elementary’s Robotics Team qualified for State at Lucas Oil Stadium on March 10th.

On Saturday, February 3rd, SHS girls’ ensemble sang “Gold and Silver” at the regional competition and got GOLD in group 1! — on to state! Alivia Lucas, Daisy Sparks, Jessie Bunnell, and Hannah Miller.

SJRH large girls’ ensemble sang “‘Cross the Wide Missouri” at regional on Saturday, February 3rd and earned gold in group IV. Maddison Hunter, Dakota Wilson, Madeline Bailey, Katelyn Ranck, Morgan Brock, Trinity Smalley, Cheyenne Carter, Hattie Cochran, and Regan Watson

From NHS/SHS Speech and Debate Coach Colleen Gatzimos-Reed: The 2/3/18 Maconaquah Speech meet was very successful for our MSD speakers!
Emma Bowling placed 2nd in Discussion and Landon Topliff placed 4th in Discussion. Congratulations to our competitors!

Northfield Girls’ Varsity Bask etball team won the TRC Championship.

Southwood 7th Grade Boys’ Basketball team won the Running Rivers Conference Championship.

Mrs. Haupert has made Chad’s learning experience a wonderful journey this year, and she has built his ability to help others soar.

Reports:
Superintendent’s report: February 1 ADM count – increase of 30.5 students since September 9

Curriculum and Instruction report: The State released data for out 2015 NHS and SHS high school graduates who earned dual credits in high school. Graduates from both schools averaged a strong 3.0 GPA during their first year in school, above the State average of 2.8.
