MSD of Wabash County School Board Meeting Review


The MSD of Wabash County School Board met to conduct business on Tuesday night. Donations were approved in a total amount of $4,254.03.
STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Kylee Vrooman, Transition Coordinator for the Bridge program was honored as the recipient of the Staff Spotlight Award. Mrs. Vrooman was nominated by coworker Kara Guiff with these words:”Kylee gives 100% to her job. She is thoughtful, does a great job with getting our students going, and stays on top of things diligently. She is always kind and asks how she can help. She is truly a huge asset to the Bridge Program!” Bridge Director, Tonya Boone, added that Kylee is the first voice and face that Bridge families meet as they enter the program. Enrolling students is a continual process, currently with 30 students in the enrollment process. Everyone goes through Kylee’s hands and she does a fantastic job of meeting students where they are and welcoming them into the program.

 Superintendent’s Report Superintendent Mike Keaffaber shared that the IDOE recently published the student transfer report for Fall 2021. When calculating the students that transfer into and out of the district, MSDWC net gained 102 students from neighboring schools district and a total net gain of 309 students from across the state.
SCHOOL RECOGNITION
Sharp Creek Elementary
Sharp Creek Elementary thanked the Urbana Lion’s Club and Dr. Lindsay Culver of Midwest Eye Consultants for helping kick off the current K-Kids fundraising efforts on behalf of Leader Dogs for the Blind. Students are participating in a penny war and other opportunities to assist in funding the training of Lucky, a puppy in training.
The Sharp Creek Robotics team programmers had an opportunity to virtually meet with Purdue University’s Vex U programmers recently. Thanks were shared to the SCE coaches for making this happen as students love to learn from experts!

Southwood Jr/Sr High School
SHS recognized the following Southwood graduates who made the Dean’s List for the Fall Semester at Ball State University: Kim Hobson, Monica Hobson, Kayla Mays, and Logan Arnold, along with Erin Lehner who made the Dean’s List at Indiana University.
BridgeBridge Director Tonya Boone noted the ever-expanding growth of the program. 427 students have already been served so far, with consistent incoming applications for new students. This semester has already seen 48 graduates with many more expected by this summer.
