Sara Johnson, a parent of two students who have been in Mrs. Riggle’s class, nominated her for the award. In her nomination, Ms. Johnson stated, “Mrs.Riggle is very welcoming, always answers questions, discusses issues and attempts to find resolutions, and shows genuine care and compassion towards the students. When we first came to this school district, she made us feel like we were always at MSD. I am so thankful and my children are very blessed to get the opportunity to learn from her!”

School Recognition

Sharp Creek Elementary

Sharp Creek Elementary recognized the lay coaches who play an important part in providing opportunities for students. This year’s lay coaches have included Maggie Easterday (Volleyball), Joel Nesler and Kevin Bretzman (Robotics), along with Tiffany Stith and Anthony Sorg (Boys Basketball).

6th grade students Madelyn Holley and Montgomrie Dawes were recognized for serving this year as President and Vice President of K-Kids. These two young ladies also help out teachers and office staff on a daily basis.

Northfield Jr/Sr High School

Northfield Jr/Sr High shared a huge thank you to Mr. Todd Ward and his band students for putting on an excellent band concert on Thursday, November 18.  Mr. Ward has been working hard to keep students involved in the band, and the concert had an awesome turnout, including around 70 students who are involved in the band this year.

Southwood Jr/Sr High School

Southwood High School received an Exemplary Conduct Report from the Girls’ Basketball Game against North Miami on Saturday, November 13. The report specifically praised player Aleia Sweet for her excellent attitude throughout the tough competition. The report reads, “This was a very competitive match up early on and at times maybe a little too competitive. #22 for Southwood (Aleia Sweet), in my opinion, was one of the better players for them and all game long was either guarding one of the better players on North Miami’s team or was being guarded by one of the better players on North Miami’s team. I don’t recall how many fouls in total were called on #22, but it was at least three. Not one time did she complain about those calls. In the case where she was fouled, she also didn’t complain. She played the entire game at 110% effort and she exemplified what I’d want all student-athletes to demonstrate not only for my school but also for the IHSAA. Well done!”

School Board meetings are live-streamed through the MSD of Wabash County Facebook page and available on the MSD of Wabash County YouTube channel at a later date.

The Metropolitan School District of Wabash County along with many partners continues to Dream Big and Work Hard!  Thank you, parents, and community for sending your children to our schools!
