MIAMI COUNTY – Miami County Community Ag Day, Friday, September 9th, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m at the Miami County 4-H Fairgrounds, being hosted by Miami County Economic Development Authority, Miami County Soil and Water Conversation District, and Purdue University Cooperative Extension Office.
AEFNA identified the importance of AG or AG related business in the community, and it became clear that we wanted to reach out to the general public and educate them on how important agriculture is to our local economy. Agriculture is Miami County #1 industry, yet many people forget that or take it for granted.
MCEDA joined forces with the Miami County-Purdue Extension Office and reached out to the Soil and Water Conversation District to learn more information regarding 4th Grade Ag Day, a well established program that educates 4th Graders of all three are school corporations. We wanted to mirror that event with the educational exhibits, and build on it to cater to families and the general public.
In addition to educational exhibits, there will also be live entertainment sponsored by Von Liche Kennels. Trainers and dogs will be there for live demonstrations through the evening. This event is Free of charge.
Miami County Farm Bureau is sponsoring a farmer’s cost share meal. The meal will be available for Free for the first 400 people, to benefit out local farmers.
Attendees are encouraged to enter for a chance to win great door prizes and the grand prize drawing of Free groceries. Additionally, complimentary hayrides will be provided by Jerry and Phyllis Calloway, and Alison Dragstrem, Maconaquah High School student will be organizing the Kiddie Corral as part of her senior project with many fun activities planned for the children that will be sponsored by Bob Dragstrem-Brodbeck Seeds, and Miami County Farm Bureau. Kyle Musselman will be there doing demonstrations. Miami County Community Ag Day is an event that caters to all ages. Join us for an evening filled with education, entertainment, and family fun.
