Marion Police Respond to Stabbing

On February 18, 2021 at approximately 10:19 pm, Marion Police responded to 1812 W. Knight Circle
for a male with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Prior to Officers arriving, dispatch advised that the
male subject was not shot, but had been stabbed.
Officers arrived and found Dorell Brown, age 19 who lived at this residence suffering from a stab
wound to his abdomen area. Paramedics arrived on the scene and Brown was transported to Marion
General Hospital with resuscitation efforts in progress. A short time later Brown had succumbed to
his injuries and died – Coroner Dorsey noted the time of death at 10:36 pm.
Witnesses stated that the suspect was wearing a black and white coat and fled the scene towards
Circle K on Kem Road. Officers went to the area and found a person matching the description
walking in front of the movie theater on Theater Drive. The male was identified as being Nathaniel
Bibbs, age 19 of Marion.
Bibbs was found walking near the AMC Theater on Theater Dr. wearing no shoes and had blood on
his clothing and hands. Marion Police searched the path believed to have been the direction that
Bibbs walked and located a steak knife. Bibbs was transported to the Marion Police Department
where he admitted to stabbing Brown during an altercation.
Bibbs is being held at the Grant County Jail on the charge of Murder.
