MARION, IN- On October 16, 2022 at approximately 5:30 pm, officers responded to an address in the area of 1st and D Street in Marion, IN. Officers met with the Reporter / Victim (Derick Flatt age 33, from Garrett, Indiana) that stated that he had been held captive in a basement of a near by residence. The victim was able to get out of the residence in a state of undress and ran to a neighboring house to request help.
Marion Police Detectives conducted an interview with the victim and obtained a search warrant for the house that the alleged crime occurred. Investigators found evidence inside the residence to support the victim’s statement. The suspect(s) were not at the scene.
This is still an active investigation and more information will be provided as the case progresses.
