Local Student Awarded ISU Honors Scholarship

PERU – A Peru student is among 31 outstanding freshmen awarded the University Honors Scholarship by Indiana State University.  Bianca Sloan of Peru, is daughter of Nelson Sloan.  In high school, Miss Sloan was a drum major and was a member of color guard, swing choir, drama club, National Honor Society, Key Club, and Tiger Leadership.  Miss Sloan is majoring in English Teaching.  The students chosen for these competitive scholarships demonstrated high levels of academic achievement throughout high and during an on campus interview process.  Specifically, students are required to have at least two of the following:  GRADE POINT AVERAGE of at least 3’75 on a 4.0 scale, a score of 1200 on the SAT or 26 on the ACT or rank within the top 10% of their high school class.   University Honors Scholarships are among the Finest Students enrolled at Indiana State University, said Greg Bierly, Executive Director of the Honors Curriculum,  “They are the core of the program’s membership.  Many of our strongest students academically, as well as the dedicated leaders of campus organizations, come from this class of scholars.  I am excited to meet and work with this talented cohort of students in the fall semester.”  The scholarship is worth full in-state tuition for four years.
