WABASH,Indiana – Wabash High School Senior Alexis Rose will travel to Indy next month to try and become the newest and youngest Indianapolis Colts Cheerleader. The soon-to-be 18-year-old told MiBash News that the Colts have never accepted a Cheerleader so young before. But she wanted to try as soon as she could because she loves dance and she loves the Colts. Adding that there will be other applicants who are 18 years old, Rose noted that the Colts usually pick cheerleaders a little older – around 21 or 22 years of age.
Interestingly, Rose is not currently a cheerleader at Wabash High. She believes that NFL Cheerleaders are more like dancers. And that, she says, ties in with her passion for movement. She explained that she has been preparing for her possible new job by dancing for these last 15 years. The girls auditing on Saturday, April 9th, will first take a prep class which will teach them the necessary choreography to audition. They will also be scored for their fitness and flexibility.
Rose said that she grew up a huge Colts fan and that the Colts are very big in her family. You can vote for her by going to Alexis Paige Rose’s Facebook page. She shared a link to the Colts Cheerleaders page where one can vote for all the current applicants. Rose on the support she has already received from Wabash.
Assuming she’ll make it to the finals, the final showcase will take place on April 17th at the Hilbert Circle Theatre in downtown Indianapolis. That round, she added, is open to the public.
As for future plans, Rose will attend Ball State University to major in Criminal Justice.
