MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. – A surprise award presentation was given at the Miami County courthouse on Friday. Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson presented Peru resident Linda Comerford with an honorary poll worker award for her 15 years of service in Miami County’s election process. Not only has Comerford volunteered to do early voting, she has worked as an Election Day judge and served on the boards to administer absentee and travel voting. Comerford said she felt honored to get the award, but added she thinks serving as a poll worker is simply doing her duty as an American.
