WABASH,Indiana – A Lagro woman is facing felony possession of methamphetamine, theft and possession of a controlled substance charges after police say she was caught shoplifting at the Wabash Wal-mart. Dawn L. Lee, 32, allegedly took two hoop earrings out of the package and placed them in her purse at approximately 9:15 pm on Thursday, May 5th. According to a probable cause affidavit by Wabash Police Officer Phil Mickelson, police were called to Wal-mart after Lee allegedly admitted to workers that she took the earrings and simply offered to pay for them.

Central Dispatch then advised Mickelson that Lee had an outstanding warrant out of Scott County in the southern part of the state. When Wabash City Police Sgt. Nick Brubaker asked to check Lee’s purse to see if she had stolen anything else, she agreed.

And that is when Brubaker allegedly noticed a small plastic baggie containing a white crystallized substance. Three green-colored pills were also found in Lee’s purse. After Miranda rights were administered, police allege that Lee admitted that she placed the earrings in her purse with the intent to steal. The affidavit also alleges that Lee said that the substance in the baggie was “ice,” otherwise known as methamphetamine. A field test by police tested positive for meth.

And the cost of the earrings that Lee allegedly stole which got her in this mess? A whopping $5.22, with tax.
