INDOT prepares for building demolition along U.S. 31 near Peru

MIAMI COUNTY, IN- The Indiana Department of Transportation announces the demolition of buildings located along U.S. 31 near Peru.

Crews will begin demolition starting on or after May 2, with work expected to be complete by the end of June. All work is weather dependent and schedules are subject to change.

10 houses, approximately 12 sheds/garages and driveways are being demolished as part of an effort to help turn U.S. 31 into a free-flowing, limited access highway.

By removing driveways, the chance of crashes caused by slow traffic entering and exiting these areas is eliminated.

During construction, impacts to traffic in the area should be minimal. Drivers can expect the occasional shoulder closure but should ultimately watch for construction traffic entering and exiting U.S. 31.

INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution and drive distraction free when traveling in and around all work zones.
