Garry David Newhouse

Garry David Newhouse, 78, of Marion, Indiana went to meet his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 18, 2024 after a short illness. Garry was born in Marion, Indiana, on December 22, 1945, to Clifford and Nettie Newhouse. Garry graduated from Fairmount High School in 1963 and married the love of his life, Sharon Miller Newhouse, in November of 1966. He served as a director at the Grant County State Bank for 25 years. He attended Jalapa Chapel Church and was proud to be a lifetime farmer. He enjoyed time with his family at Lake Tippecanoe and Fort Myers Beach Florida.  

Garry is survived by his wife; son, Daniel C. (Robin) Newhouse of Marion,; daughter, Michelle R. (Brian) Nichols of Union, Kentucky; grandchildren, Lorrie R. Newhouse of West Lafayette, Indiana, Bradey D. (Emmie) Newhouse of Marion, Indiana, Katelyn M. Nichols of Cincinnati, Ohio, Adam Z. Nichols of Union, Kentucky, Erika S. Newhouse of Marion, Indiana; great-grandson, Calum D. Newhouse of Marion, Indiana; sister-in-law, Nancy J. Newhouse; special niece (like a sister), Karen Sue (Dave) Shane; and nephew (like a brother), Ronnie Joe (Jody) Newhouse.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Waneta (Lee) Stevens; and brothers, Howard (Eloise) Newhouse and Dean Newhouse.

The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 25, 2024 as well as 1 hour prior to the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Garry’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 26, 2024, at the Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel. Pastor James Schroeder and special friend, Dave Hinds officiating with burial following at Thrailkill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Jalapa Chapel Building Fund 5158 N. Frances Slocum Trail, Marion, Indiana.
