Fatal single vehicle crash in Amboy claims Peru man

On June 6, 2022 at approximately 10:46 PM Miami County central dispatch was notified of a single vehicle crash at County Road 400 S and County Road 400 E. A deputy from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Other agencies that responded were Amboy VFD, Amboy medics, Dukes EMS and the Miami County Coroner. Initial scene assessment was a single vehicle traveled off the north side of the roadway and was upside down in a field.

Preliminary investigation by deputy Alex Wolfe found that 24 year old Austin Ingle of Peru, Indiana, was driving a 1995 GMC Sierra eastbound on County Road 400 S west of County Road 400 E. There was heavy rain at the time of the crash and the roadway was wet to include areas of standing water. The vehicle traveled off the north side of the roadway ultimately losing control. The vehicle then rolled and came to rest on its roof.

Austin Ingle who was the sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene from his injuries. The family has been notified. This is an ongoing investigation. 

Deputy Wolfe was assisted in the investigation by Peru police officer Keith Smith and trooper Dustin Powers.
