Daniel Joseph Fettig

Daniel Joseph Fettig, 75, of Peru passed away at 11:25PM on September 27, at home with family by his side.

He was born in Logansport, IN to Julia Jane (Fettig) Strubbe and Harold Joseph Fettig. He married Debbie Ann (Myers) on November 12, 1994 and she survives.

He graduated from Logansport High School in 1966 where he played baseball and basketball.

Dan proudly served in the US Army from 1966-1969. He served one year in Vietnam from 1967-1968 as a Sergeant E-5. He was employed by Wilsons Foods for 19 years and Nickles Bakery as a route salesman and supervisor/branch manager for 22 years in Rochester, Indiana. He retired from Nickles Bakery in 2011.

He loved life, being outside, and spending time with family. He also loved going to Florida and being by the beach. His passion was playing golf with family and friends. He enjoyedwatching sports and especially loved watching his grandchildren play softball, baseball, basketball, and soccer.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Bradley Joseph Fettig (Mandy) of Walton, Indiana and a daughter, Kristie Jane Nelson (Nathan) of Russiaville, Indiana. Also 4 step-children who he thought of and loved as much as his own. Greg Douglass (Brenda), Nikki Swihart (Curtiss), Chad Douglass (Kelly), and Aaron Douglass (Anndria) all of Peru, Indiana. He has 20 grandchildren:  Cameron, Emily, Ethan, Caleb, Dylan, Blake, and Allyssa Fettig; Logan Nelson, Sydney, Riley, Carter, and Landyn Douglass; Nick Benner, Paige and Delaney Swihart; Dakota and Peyton Douglass; and Madison Landrum, Kelly Sutton, and Chance. Also 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Jo Ellen McFaddin (Mike) of Lenox, Michigan.

He attended Abundant Life Church. He was a member of American Legion and VFW.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 11:00am-2:00pm at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm with Pastor Dustin Smith officiating. Burial will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Mexico, Indiana.  Military honors will be provided by Miami County Military Rites Team.

Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
