MIAMI COUNTY, IN- In response to recent rumors of a Hepatitis A outbreak in Peru/Miami County Indiana:
There currently is NOT an outbreak of Hepatitis A.
Sporadic cases do pop up throughout the nation, the states and local communities. When these cases are diagnosed they are reported to the state health department and then the local health department for investigation. Close contacts of the individual are contacted and resources are made available to them. Education is provided to those affected.
