County sets salt bid opening date

WABASH – Wabash County will open salt bids for the 2018-2019 winter season at 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 16.

County Highway Superintendent John Martin requested the date at the brief March 19 meeting of the county commissioners, who approved it.

Additionally, Martin noted that the bridge carrying County Road 1050 East over Grant Creek, which was washed out in the late February rainstorms, was to be inspected Tuesday, March 20.

Other news from the meeting consisted of paying payroll claims, and the weekly jail report from Sheriff Bob Land.

Land said that, as of March 19, Wabash County Jail held 88 inmates, with an additional 43 in Miami County, four in Blackford County and one in Department of Corrections safe keep.

He also reported that, the in previous week, the jail had 27 new book-ins, 14 transports and a peak population of 95.
