Charge Added to Peru Man Jailed on Charges of Battery and Criminal Recklessness

This from the Peru Police Department:

PERU, IN- On August 4, 2019, at approximately 2:39am, Peru Police Officers were dispatched to a stabbing in the area of Broadway and Sixth Street.

After the initial investigation, Rannin Shuler, 24 of Peru, was jailed on charges of Battery with a Deadly Weapon and Criminal Recklessness.  
The male victim was treated by Dukes EMS and lifelined to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne where he was treated for his injuries and released.
“Our Officers did a great job at the scene, followed by our Detective Branch who did a great job of conducting a very thorough investigation,” said Chief Michael Meeks.  “Our Detective Branch has been in constant communication with the Miami County Prosecutor’s Office.  Through the investigation it was determined to add on the charge of Aggravated Battery.”
The initial charges were:Battery with a Deadly Weapon (Level 5 Felony) carrying a possible jail sentence of 1-6 years.Criminal Reckless (Level 6 Felony) carrying a possible jail sentence of 1/2 to 2 1/2 years.  
With the charge of Aggravated Battery (Level 3 Felony), Shuler is looking at an additional jail sentence of 3-16 years if convicted.
