Butterfly wings project begins in downtown Peru

This from Rediscover Downtown Peru: PERU, IN- The More for Miami Coalition, the Miami County Substance Abuse Prevention Council, and Rediscover Downtown Peru, Inc. have joined forces for a local beautification project. This project will be of butterfly wings on the side of the Sherwin Williams building in downtown Peru.

This project began last year by an invitation to high school students in Miami County to design a set of butterfly wings for a photo opportunity to be painted in downtown Peru.

“What a wonderful addition to our downtown!  I look forward to adding my family to these amazing photos!” said Jill Miles of ReDiscover Downtown Peru.

The painting itself has already begun and is being applied by the local company “Two Girls Painting”.

We encourage everyone to come out and take their photos with the wings and tag them on Facebook.

Jennifer Yates of the More for Miami Coalition said that “We look forward to seeing all of the selfies online.”

Becca Wiley from the Substance Abuse Prevention Council stated “SAPC is excited for the collaboration of the wings project between Rediscover, More For Miami, SAPC, Sherwin Williams, and the local schools. The prevention message is something important for our coalition to get out to our community. What a great way to reach others in our community.”

As a reminder, the butterfly’s wings are a symbol of transformation – – indeed, to believe so much in the possibilities of our present that it inspires hope for the future.
