Wabash County, Indiana (Feb. 28, 2020) – Heartland Career Center is thrilled to announce the fourth annual 9th Grade Interactive Career Expo will take place Tuesday, April 28, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wabash County YMCA in downtown Wabash. This hands-on exploratory event will better align local industry employers with education while presenting ninth grade students with an opportunity to consider a variety of different career paths they can pursue right in northern Indiana. Each participating business is encouraged to provide an interactive booth that depicts skills needed for their organization or industry. The most effective booths are those that students can touch, see, and interact with while exploring the field. “This event provides regional ninth grade students a chance to truly explore careers available locally,” Pete Dupont, Supervisor of Student Services at Heartland Career Center, stated. “Area businesses are invited to attend this event as vendors to host a booth with an interactive, hands-on exhibit to allow students a chance to glean insight into their industry. As well, students are about to make one-on-one connections with professionals in career areas that interest them.” There is no cost to companies to participate and a complimentary lunch will be provided. This committee is a multi- county partnership between various organizations including: Peru Community Schools, Ivy Tech Community College, Grow Wabash County, Honeywell Foundation, Miami County Economic Development Authority, MSD of Wabash County, Community Foundation of Wabash County, Heartland Career Center, Vincennes University, Wabash City Schools, Wabash County United Fund, Purdue Extension of Wabash and Miami Counties, and Wabash County YMCA.
