Brian Roy Smith, 64, Marion, passed away at 5:53 pm on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Marion Health. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Thursday, January 7, 1960, to Stanley and Barbara (Sartain) Smith.
Brian worked as a Supervisor at Bahr Brothers until his retirement in 2009. He attended College Wesleyan Church. He loved fishing with his sons, loved music and animals. He was a hard worker and a homebody. He enjoyed teaching his sons to play baseball and how to drive. He loved being out in nature. He was a quiet man with a big heart.
Survivors include his sons, Nathan Jerome (Fiancée Brandy Silverthorn) Smith of Gas City, Nickolas Roy (Jenifer) Smith of Columbus, OH, John “Basil” Astrup of Peru; sister, Cindy Lou (William) Bird of Marion; grandchildren, Nathan M. Smith of Fort Wayne, Natalie J. Pietrzak of Indianapolis, Sydnie G. Smith of Marion; great grandson, Cairo Daud, and great-granddaughter, Henley Smith.
He was preceded in death by parents, Stanley Robert and Barbara Joan Smith; beloved dog and best friend, Akai.
A graveside service to celebrate Brian’s life will begin on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 12:00 noon with Vickie Conrad officiating at Grant Memorial Park 1606 W. 26th St., Marion, IN.
