BUNKER HILL, IN- The Maconaquah Athletic Department would like to announce and welcome the new Varsity Boys Basketball Coach, John Burrus.
John was approved by the School Board this evening to take over as the new Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at Maconaquah High School. Coach Burrus brings in 23 years of experience as a head coach, with the last 15 seasons at our neighbor to the east, Southwood. He has had a lot of success at Southwood as he has led them to 6 sectional championships, 3 regional championships, and 1 semi-state championship in 2017-18 where they also played for a state championship.
Additionally, Coach Burrus has won 6 conference championships in the TRC with a career total of over 200 wins. John is very familiar with our boys basketball team and players as Southwood has been a conference foe since the 2015-16 season. John Burrus has earned several accolades over his career, and they are well deserving. His desire to win and lead our boys on and off the court will show through as he takes the reins of our Maconaquah Boys Basketball program.
We are extremely excited to welcome Coach Burrus to our Maconaquah family. He will also be teaching in our Social Studies Department at the high school during the day.
