
William F. Pearson, 95, Gas City, passed away at 10:25 pm on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Sunday, December 2, 1928, to Kenneth and Elva (McKeever) Pearson. On December 31, 1954, he married Kathryn "Jane" Young.
William graduated from Jonesboro High School and attended Taylor University. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a 2nd Lt and was honorably discharged.
Following his military service, William worked at Owens-Illinois (retired 12/31/1982); Nekoosa Packaging, PCA (retired 10/31/1991), retiring in 1991.
At the time of his passing, William was the oldest living kidney transplant recipient in the state of Indiana. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. Bingo, euchre and dominoes were games he really enjoyed. As a hobby, he used to "cane" chairs. He enjoyed watching the Cubs, Colts and IU Basketball.
Survivors include his daughters, Sally (Dan) Leach of Gas City, Sara (Ray) Dalrymple of Omaha, NE, Alice (Mike) Shively of Marion; sons, William "Bill" Pearson of Gas City, James Pearson of Gas City, Philip Pearson of Marion, John "Scott" (Christa) Pearson of Montpelier; grandchildren, Katy Leach of Ft. Wayne, Jason Dalrymple of Omaha, NE, Shana (Greg) Schmidt of Lake Worth, FL, Jeff Nelson of Marion, Patrick (Amie) Pearson of Marion, Amanda (Brian) Boksa of Brownsburg, William W. Pearson of Indianapolis, Emma Pearson of Marion, Abraham Pearson of Keystone, J.J. Pearson of Montpelier, Drew Pearson of Montpelier, Matthew Pearson of Montpelier, and Holly Pearson of Montpelier; 12 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn "Jane" Pearson; his parents; brother, Robert Pearson; and granddaughter, Kristin Myers.
The family will receive visitors from 9:30 am to 11:30 am on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a Funeral Service to celebrate William's life will begin at 11:30 am with Rev. Mark Atkinson officiating. Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery.
