Will “Scott” Burke

Will “Scott” Burke, 93, of Jonesboro, passed away at 12:13 pm on Monday, April 14, 2025, in his home. He was born in Nickelsville, Virginia, on Friday, December 25, 1931, to David and Alice (Sexton) Burke. On September 28, 1968, he married Bessie M. York, who survives.

Scott served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He achieved the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged.

Following his military service, Scott worked as a Corrugator Operator with Bell Packaging in Marion for 37 years.

He was a member of Grace Community Church, the VFW in Gas City, and the Elks in Marion. Scott enjoyed golfing and swimming.

In addition to his loving wife, Bessie, Scott is survived by his daughters, G. Lyvonne Nightenhelser of Warren and Sheila (Dan) O’Keefe of MO; sons, Randy (Denise) Burke of Wabash and Sandy (Kim) Burke of Converse; step-daughter, Cheryl (Jerry) Gibbs of CA; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; plus several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Lee Burke; mother, Alice M. Burke; son, Justin Burke; and 12 siblings.

The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a Funeral Service to celebrate Scott’s life will begin at 12:00 pm with Pastor Barry Earley officiating.  Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Marion.
