Update to January 16 Stabbing in Miami County

MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. – On Tuesday, January 16, at approximately 5:56pm Miami County Central Dispatch received a call of male, identified as James S. Turner, 36, trying to flag down cars in the area of Main and Wayne Street.  While officers were en route to the call, another caller advised the male may have been stabbed.  Officers arrived and observed a citizen applying pressure with a towel to the area of the wound of Mr. Turner.  Upon officers opening his outer clothing, a large amount of blood was observed on his clothing.  Once emergency medical staff from Dukes Memorial Hospital arrived, they began treatment of Mr. Turner.  It was determined shortly after their arrival to Lifeline Mr. Turner to another hospital. It was initially thought that the stabbing had occurred inside the residence.  However it is now believed to have happened in the alley behind the residence of 320 East Fifth Street.  Officers were able to speak with multiple potential witnesses at the scene.  Deputy Prosecutor Jeff Sinkovics was contacted and a search warrant was obtained from Superior Court I Judge David Grund.  Officers executed the search warrant at that residence, with the scene being processed and evidence secured.  The investigation uncovered that there may have been an argument between Mr. Turner and Billy D. Humphrey about a possible drug deal that had occurred several days prior.  Mr. Turner was treated for a stab wound and remains hospitalized.  Through their investigation, Billy D.
