Selma D. Smith, 88, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at 5:43 a.m. at Millers Merry Manor East, Wabash, IN.
Mrs. Smith was born on July 14, 1928, in Huntington, IN, to Glenn L. and Hilda M. (Evans) Haneline. Her parents preceded her in death. She married Richard E. Smith in 1947. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Selma was a 1946 graduate of Huntington High School. She was an Avon Sales Representative for 20 years. She was a founding member of the “Variety Club” and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW #2689. She was also a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.
Selma is survived one daughter, Corlane (Dan) Morris, Huntington, IN; one brother, Glenn (Nancy) Haneline, Jr., Roanoke, IN; three grandchildren, Melissa Poehler, David Smith, Amanda Smith; and one great grandchild, Tyler Greene.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Danny Smith in 2015; one brother, Bobby Haneline; and two sisters, Doris Ruble and Donna Collins.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.
A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, CR 1000N and CR 300E, Servia, IN.
