GRANT COUNTY, IN- In a death investigation started in April 2023, the Grant County Sheriff's Office had obtained a warrant for the arrest of Gabrielle L. Wortman age 30 of Marion. The charge is Dealing in a Substance Resulting in Death, a Level 1 Felony issued by Grant Superior Court II with a bond amount set of $100,000.
Gabrielle Wortman was located and arrested on July 24th in Hamilton County, Indiana, where she was held until transported back to Grant County.
This is the result of an overdose death, and Investigators were able to find probable cause to believe Gabrielle Wortman was responsible by providing the victim with an illegal controlled substance, in this case, causing the overdose death. The autopsy revealed the cause of death was Fentanyl and Heroin Toxicity.
Sheriff Garcia continues to commit manpower and resources for investigations related to the sale and distribution of illegal drugs and the investigations of deaths resulting from illegal drug overdose. The Grant County Prosecutor and Coroner have been instrumental in the investigation and other investigations resulting in death.
In this difficult time, the victim's name will not be given out of respect for the famity.
