Evelyn Rose “Evie” Rowe, 90, of Gas City, Indiana, passed peacefully on Friday May 2, 2025 while at home surrounded by family.
Evelyn was born on October 8, 1934 to mother, Rosie Hume and birth father, Sam Sullivan, and raised by her stepfather, Frank Hume in Sewell, West Virginia. Evie grew up in Meadow Creek, West Virginia before moving to Gas City Indiana. She worked at the RCA for 25 years and enjoyed being a CNA.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and stepfather; husband, Lyle; long-term friend, Donzie, all of her siblings; and her son, Lewis.
She is survived by her sons, Harlan Rowe, Danny (Sheri) Rowe, John (Amy) Rowe, Charles (Glenda) Rowe; daughters, Rose (Mitch) Johnson, and Vivian (James) Webb. Also survived by 10+ grand children and 10+ great grandchildren.
Evelyn enjoyed gardening, picking berries, canning, and cooking. She loved being outside and spending most of her time with family.
Evelyn will be laid to rest at the Marion National Cemetery with her husband, Lyle. She will be having a private graveside burial with close family present.
Evelyn will always be remembered for her caring, loving heart and how she constantly opened her home to anyone in need of some extra love. She was a selfless, high-spirited woman who would always put others before herself.
