Downtown map encourages exploration of Wabash Cultural District

WABASH, IN—Downtown Wabash, Inc. recently distributed a downtown map highlighting the Wabash Cultural District, nestled in the heart of Downtown Wabash. The vision behind the map is to provide a guide for visitors frequenting downtown to make navigation easier while prompting further exploration of the Wabash Cultural District.

“Wabash is rich with history, arts and culture,” says Cathy Gatchel, Chief Development Officer of Honeywell Arts & Entertainment, and Downtown Wabash, Inc. board member. “Downtown Wabash is fortunate to have a wonderful mix of shops, restaurants, arts and recreational experiences. This compact map will help guests navigate through the wonderful variety of our beautiful downtown.”

Downtown Wabash was designated an Indiana Cultural District by the Indiana Arts Commission in 2021, and is one of only twelve in the state. The 2.5-mile district is brimming with cultural assets such as a world-class performing arts center, miles of community bike trails, numerous public art pieces, new housing developments and boutiques.

Downtown Wabash, Inc.’s Promotion Committee, consisting of both staff and board members, intentionally curated the Wabash Cultural District map in alignment with the organization’s 8-year strategic plan initiatives. The Promotion Committee, grounded on the framework of the Main Street Four Point Approach™, is focused on increasing awareness of the Wabash Cultural District in 2024. With that objective in mind, the committee envisions the map positively promoting economic growth, community engagement, tourism, collaboration, and accessibility within the Wabash Cultural District.

“We believe the Wabash Cultural District Map will help drive more foot traffic to local businesses by showcasing the amazing amenities in our downtown district,” says Downtown Wabash, Inc. Executive Director, Kristen Petruniw. “Ultimately, the map displays our vibrant downtown community and encourages spending at local establishments.”

Visitors and interested community members can pick up their free map at the office of Downtown Wabash, Inc., Visit Wabash County, the Honeywell Center and several businesses throughout Downtown Wabash and Wabash County.

The Wabash Cultural District Map was made possible in part by the Indiana Arts Commission, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. Downtown Wabash, Inc. appreciates the talented design work of Bad Apple Graphics that helped make this map possible.
