Wylie L. Howard, 94, Marion, went to be with the Lord at 3:52 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2017, at Marion Rehab and Assisted Living Center. He was born in Orlando, Florida, to Wiley and Valeria (Grover) Howard. He married Bettye J. Taylor on July 6, 1962, and she preceded him in death on May 1, 2015.
Wylie was a wire scheduler for 40 years at Essex-United Technologies in Marion. He was a real handyman and was very meticulous with his cars. Wylie enjoyed painting, mowing, and fishing, and he always looked forward to family gatherings with his brothers, sisters, and grandchildren. Wylie was also an avid Colts and Pacers fan and an avid walker.
He is survived by his children, Carol (Ron) McClure, Lake Wales, Florida, and Melinda (Lamar Abercrombie) Stone, Gainesville, Georgia; sisters, Letty Mann, Marion, and Donna (Meredith) Pence, Plainfield; daughter-in-law, Barbara Morgan, Fairmount; grandchildren, Greg McClure, Steve McClure, Heidi Davidson, Tim McClure, Aaron Stone, Ben Stone, Jacob Stone, David Stone, Brad Howard, April Dewey, and Amber Howard; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Wylie was preceded in death by his son, Gary J. Howard; brother, Joe Howard; and sisters, Frances Weimer, Phyllis Bishir, and Marguerite Titus.
Visitation is from 12:30-2:30 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Services will begin at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating.
