William Kenneth “Kenny” Powell, Jr, 72, of rural Wabash, Indiana, died at 5:34 pm, Thursday, March 23, 2017 at his home. He was born November 12, 1944 in Monroe, Michigan to William Kenneth, Sr. and Christine (Edmonds) Powell.
Kenny was a 1964 graduate of Southwood High School and a US Army veteran serving in Vietnam. He married Suzanne Brewer at the Lincolnville United Methodist Church on April 9, 1966. He worked for Brown from Wabash, Ford Meter Box, and Zimmer Biomet in Warsaw. Kenny was a member of the American Legion Post 15 in Wabash. He enjoyed golfing, being on his tractor, wood working, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Powell, two children, Angela (Scott) Case and Scott (Ashley) Powell, three grandchildren, McKenzie Powell, Blayne Powell, and Sophie Powell, and one step granddaughter Mackenzie Case, all of Wabash; his brother, Steve (Carolyn Myers) Powell of Denver, Indiana, and sister, Linda (Terry) Sloan of LaFontaine, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ernest “Smoke” Powell.
Funeral services will be 10 am, Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Brad Wright officiating. Friends may call 2 – 8 pm, Monday at the funeral home.
