William Edward Cole (Billy) Johnston

William Edward Cole (Billy) Johnston, 65, of Peru, passed away peacefully at his residence after a long and courageous battle with cancer and huntingtons disease, on the evening of Saturday, December 30, 2017. He was born in Peru on December 20, 1952 to George and Marie Johnston. He was a 1971 graduate of Maconaquah High School.

He had many hobbies and interests that included bicycling, the Chicago Bears, visiting his Arizona home and playing disc golf. He was a member of the New Waverly United Methodist Church and the Professional Disc Golf Assc. and helped design the disc golf course at Mississinewa. He retired in 2010 after 34 years at Square D in Peru.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sharon Johnston (Schreyer), Peru, his mother; Marie Johnston, Peru, one son; Nicholas Johnston, Arizona, one brother; Mike (Doris) Johnston, Peru, one sister; Dorthea Spears, Washington, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his father; George Johnston, brother; Don Johnston, two sisters; Phebe Johnston and Lisa Ward, nephew; Caleb Schreyer and niece; Heidi Damare.

A funeral service celebrating the life of William Johnston will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 10:30am at Riverview Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Phillips officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Riverview Funeral Home from 3:00pm until 7:00pm. Online condolences can be made at www.riverviewfhperu.com
