William “Bill” Dean Hutchens

William “Bill” Dean Hutchens, 80, Marion, received his eternal reward when he passed away at 10:54 a.m. on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at VA Northern Indiana Healthcare System in Fort Wayne. He was born in Converse on June 30, 1937, to the late Forrest and Helen (Dehoney) Hutchens. He married Carolyn Myers on July 6, 1963, and she survives.

Bill was a 1955 graduate of Swayzee High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country for 40 months between the years of 1958 and 1962. Bill was a member of United Methodist Church and attended Grace Community Church.

Some of Bill’s favorite things to do were going to auctions, fishing, vacationing, and watching Cubs baseball games and basketball games. He also enjoyed watching his grandson, Jared, play soccer baseball.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn, with whom he just celebrated 54 years in July; son, Jeffrey (Karla) Hutchens, Marion; daughter, Brenda Hutchens, Marion; granddaughter, Olivia Hutchens; grandson, Jared Hutchens; and brother, Richard Hutchens.

Also preceding him in death were his siblings, Donald and Robert Hutchens, Thelma Hughes, and Crystal Kelso.

The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Services to celebrate Bill’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Helm and Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will take place at 1 p.m. at Marion National Cemetery.
