W.J. (Jesse) Brewer went home to be with his Heavenly Father on April 30, 2016. He was 89 years old. On February 26, 1927, Jesse was born in Clifton, TN, to John and Edna (Baskins) Brewer.
Jesse served in the Navy from 1944-1946. He was part of two invasions: Okinawa, Japan and Luzon, Philippines. On January 16, 1948, he married Maxine Bell in Pickett, AR. Jesse retired from Body by Fisher (General Motors) in 1986, after 30 years. After his retirement, he and Maxine spent 26 winters in Okeechobee, FL, where he enjoyed fishing. Jesse was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Marion.
Jesse is survived by Maxine, his wife of 68 years; two daughters, Mary (Bubba) Grayson, Emory TX, and Jody (fiancé Roy Chaney) Wooten; son, James (Connie) Brewer, Marion; grandchildren, Cindy Johnson, Anderson, Terri Clark, Kingsport, TN, Tanda Krieg, John Garrett, Marion, Tony Leger, Peru, and Kristi Wolff, Jonesboro; 15 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ed Brewer, Marion; and sister, Francis Williams, Portageville, MO.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, John and Edna Brewer; sister, Victoria Williams; and brother, Larry Dickey.
Friends are invited to pay their respects from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Koontz officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory, Marion.
