Walter “Wally” E. Althouse, 66, Jonesboro, died in his home at 3:50 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2016. He was born in Albion, MI, to the late Howard E. and Betty Jean (Hornbaker) Althouse. On December 12, 1980, Wally married his sweetheart, Pam Logan, and she survives.

Wally retired as a lineman at American Woodmark in Gas City. He previously worked as an autobody man, and had past employment at RCA, Munson Pontiac, Twin City Auto, and Bauer Chevrolet.

Wally loved NASCAR and Sprint Car Racing and was a Dale Earnhardt, Sr., fan. He enjoyed working on old street and muscle cars, and he did some racing himself. Music was also one of his hobbies. Wally loved his family dearly, especially his grandbabies, and he also loved his dogs, Simba, Boomer, Bandit, and Rowdy.

In addition to his wife of 35 years, survivors include his children, Christine (Boom) Wyrick, Marion, Candace Corey, Bradenton, FL, Tara (Shawn Schuyler) Whitehead, Gas City, and Kyla (Dave, II), Anderson, Valparaiso; grandchildren, Jessica Owings, Peyton Whitehead, and Brantley Schuyler; great-granddaughter, Ji’Anna Graham; siblings, Bruce Althouse, Jane (Casey) Bowling, Pam (Carl) Jones, and Kathy (Tom) Dixon; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and many close friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother.

Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

Services for Wally will be at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2016, with Pastor Gary Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Gas City.
