Friendship Hill is the name chosen for the city’s Inclusive Park.

The name was announced during a brief ceremony Monday night at the Wabash Riverfront Plaza and Riverfront Sweets and Eats, which hosted a fundraiser for the park.

The Inclusive Park Committee received 402 name suggestions, and committee members each had their favorites.

Throughout it all, committee co-chair Shelly Myers said, was the theme of friendship. Since part of the park will be a giant hill, the name Friendship Hill was selected.

The city was also included in the name, as a slogan “BashIN’ Barriers” is incorporated in the park’s logo.

Work on the site is expected to begin in a few weeks, and work should be completed by this fall.
