W. Dean McKamey (81) went to be with the Lord on the morning of Saturday, March 12, 2016 at his home in Peru, Indiana.

He was born on July 31, 1934 to Vinard R. and Naomi Lucielle (Eckels) McKamey in Brazil, Indiana.  He was a graduate of Peru High School, and he married his wife of 62 years, Carolyn (Bunnell) McKamey on February 14, 1954.  He was preceded in death by both of his parents, and by his younger sister, Patricia (McKamey) Moyer.

Dean worked at Delco Electronics in Kokomo for 35 years, and retired as a mold maker in 1998.  He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Peru, and was also involved in various other community organizations, including the Peru Rolling Chapel, Peru Lions Club, Peru Masonic Lodge, and the Miami County Museum.  He also enjoyed playing the sousaphone in the Peru Circus Festival Band, and The Swampwater Stompers.

Dean was a loving husband, and father of three, and grandfather.  He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, and three children: Thomas (Gina) McKamey (Carol Stream, IL), Peggy (Daniel) Gingrich (Logansport, IN), and Steven (Barbra) McKamey (Peru, IN); four grandchildren: Mark (Jaci) McKamey (Wausau, WI), Claudio McKamey (Carol Stream, IL), and Faith and Elijah McKamey (Peru, IN); and his older sister, Dixie (McKamey) Martin (Carl Junction, MO).  He also leaves behind a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 17, from 10:00am to noon at the First Baptist Church in Peru, with the funeral service beginning at 12:00pm at the church.  Pastor Bob Adelsperger will officiate.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made either to the First Baptist Church of Peru, or to the Peru Circus Festival Band, Inc.
