Virginia Irene “Lill” Salyer, 94, Marion, died in her home at 4:23 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. She was born in Nickelsville, Virginia, to David Lee and Alice (Sexton) Burke. She married Luther Salyer, and he preceded her in death in October of 1982.

Lill worked as a slurry at RCA and retired after 28 years of service. She was a member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church and Topps Club. She enjoyed bowling, camping, crafts, watching figure skating, and going on cruise vacations.

She is survived by her children, Velma Lovelady, Marion, Nora Lea Salyer, Macy, Nathan Salyer, Marion, and Glenn (Tracy) Salyer, Peru; son-in-law, Jay Taylor, Marion; several grandchildren; and brother, Scott (Bess) Burke, Jonesboro.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lill was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Frances Taylor; son, Luther Boyd, Jr.; siblings, Sam Burke, Juanita Salyer, Claudia Flannery, Leafa Williams, Maude Ellen Hanson, Inez Fryman, Charlie Burke, Sarah Mead, Hazel Grigsby, Georgia Lou Elam, John Burke, and James Harris.

Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, May 8, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Lill’s funeral service is at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastor Jay Shady officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory.
