Virginia E. Scher, 86, of Huntington, IN, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at her residence.
Mrs. Scher was born July 27, 1929 in Huntington, Indiana to Earl and Leah Hipskind Larr. Her parents preceded her in death.
Virginia’s first marriage was to Mark Scher on August 18, 1947. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1993. Her second marriage was to Phillip Scher on June 25, 1994. He preceded her in death on August 7, 2001.
Mrs. Scher was a homemaker and a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Huntington, IN.
Survivors include: One son: Patrick (Sarah) Scher, Golden, Colorado; Two daughters: Diane Pequignot, Columbia City, IN and Susan Scher, Brownsburg, IN; One daughter-in-law: Patricia Scher, Huntington, IN. One sister-in-law: Ruth Anne Larr, Florida. She is also survived by 9 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son: Michael Scher March 29, 2003.
Five brothers: Harold, Joseph, Richard, William and Eldon Larr. Five sisters: Mary Larr, Clara Whitesell, Ruth Caley, Mirriam Winters and Leah Bohrer. One step- sister: Julia Rettig.
Calling hours will be on Friday, May 20, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, IN 46750 with Father Ron Rieder presiding.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, Indiana.
