Tonya May (Carroll) Cowgill, 61, Gas City, died at 4:11 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Marion, Indiana, to the late Orville Eugene and Lorraine Ann (Williams) Carroll. Tonya married Dan Cowgill in 1985, and he preceded her in death in 1998.

Tonya was a 1974 graduate of Madison-Grant High School. She was a bus driver for Mississinewa School District for more than 30 years. Tonya was a very selfless person who would do anything for anyone and would give the shirt off of her back to help someone else. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, especially watching them play sports. Tonya also loved to go to rummage sales and yard sales, and she was a huge Indianapolis Colts fan.

She will be dearly missed by her sons, Kip (Rachel) Cowgill, Gas City, and Chance (Jenna) Cowgill, Marion; long-time companion, John Ybarra; siblings, Tammy Harms, Pat Carroll, Kim Diorde, Rayford King, Darnell King, Pattie Kelly, Samia Shriner, Jennifer George, and Priscilla Schultz; grandchildren, Felicia Izabell Cowgill and Danni Cowgill; special cousin, Thom Williams; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Tonya was preceded in death by brothers, Michael Carroll and Randy King.

A graveside service will be at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Riverside Cemetery with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. A potluck/carry-in dinner will follow at 6:00 p.m. at Thompson-Ray House, 407 E. Main St., Gas City.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the “Grandchildren’s Education Fund”, with checks made payable to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service.
