Timothy (Tim) Kern, 64, left us unexpectedly at 1:30pm on Monday, November 13, 2017, from health complications. Tim was born on February 21, 1953 in Peru, Indiana to Gerald L. and Violet P. Kern (Brooks) and was a lifelong area resident. He married Nancy Kern (Hall) on February 13, 1970 and they were married for 47 years.
Tim worked as a construction worker for over 25 years. In 1999, he retired from the Labor Union 274 of Lafayette. Tim loved to spend time watching movies. He also loved caring for his dogs Scooter, Buster, Suzie, Daisy, Lulabell and birds. Tim enjoyed traveling to auctions and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was an avid collector of numerous items.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy A. Kern (Hall); and three sons and one daughter: Terry & Bobbi Kern (Peru, IN), Brian & Stacy Kern (Wabash, IN), Jennifer Lehman (Kern) (Peru, IN), and Jason Kern (Peru, IN). Also, 12 grandchildren; Mikhail, Dustin, Megan, Nichole, Brooke, Kelly, Kegan, Jaye, Zachary, Hannah, Brayden, Bryant; and 2 great-grandchildren: Louna and Mathew. He is also survived by his two sisters, Sheila Delort (Schrader) and husband, Rodger, of Montross, VA; and Barbara Crim (Kern) of Indianapolis, IN; and numerous nieces, nephews, one aunt, and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald L. and Violet P. Kern (Brooks); and brother, Larry Schrader.
Friends may gather at the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana from 3pm – 6pm on Friday, November 17, 2017. Funeral service will follow at 6pm.
