Thomas “Tom” C. Scheidt, Sr.

Thomas “Tom” C. Scheidt, Sr., 69, Marion, died in his home at 7:35 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2017. He was born in Glassgow, Montana, to Leonard and Geneva (Guerin) Scheidt. He married Susan L. Stevens on March 30, 1969, and she survives.

Tom was a 1966 graduate of Oak Hill High School. In 1967, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1969. Following his military service, he worked at Gen Corp. as a machine operator for 35 years and retired in 2000. He then worked in maintenance at Marion Community Schools for 11 years.

Tom enjoyed antiquing and restoring Model A cars. He was a member of the Model A Club in Anderson. He was a loving, honest, and caring man who will be deeply missed by his friends and family, especially his grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Susan; daughter, Geneva (Ryan) Stevens, Marion; son, Thomas (Cherri) Scheidt, Jr.; grandchildren, Heather, Brandon, and Mache; 2 great-grandchildren; siblings, Elaine (Omar) Call, Dale (Carolyn) Scheidt, Dennis (Linda) Scheidt, Betty (Cleo) Shively, Linda Gibson, and Patty Harris; several nieces, nephews, and friends; and his dog, Misty.

His daughter, Valerie Scheidt, and two brothers, Jack Gibson and Dick Gibson, also preceded him in death.

The family will have a graveside service at Grant Memorial Park at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2017, with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
