Thomas R. Wilbur, 78, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. at Markle Health & Rehabilitation Center, Markle, IN.

Thomas was born on February 18, 1939, in Huntington, IN, to Jack H. and Colleen (Richardson) Wilbur. His parents preceded him in death. Tom married Judith Oswalt on November 20, 1960 at Central Christian Church, Huntington, IN. She survives and resides in Huntington, IN.

Thomas was a 1957 graduate of Huntington High School, Huntington, IN. He also graduated from International Business College in 1959 and Ivy Tech in 1991, both in Fort Wayne, IN. He served in the United States Army from 1962-1964 stationed in California. He worked at Triad/Utrad (Magnetek) in material control from 1961-1989. He later worked as a respiratory therapist.
Tom owned Someone’s Treasures and was an antique collector and dealer and loved to refinish antiques. Thomas was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Indiana University fan. He also enjoyed NASCAR races and a big fan of Jeff Gordon. Tom was also an avid reader of civil war books.

Along with his wife, Judy, he is survived by two daughters, Jennifer (Robert) Bowers, Amy (Larry) Helton, both of Huntington, IN; one brother, Jack (Aida) Wilbur, DeLand, FL; three grandsons, Jordan Akers, Logan Akers, Cole Helton; two step-grandchildren, and 3 step-great grandchildren.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Wilbur.

There will be calling hours held on Friday, March 17, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.

Additional calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral home prior to the funeral service.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, with Jean Hayden officiating.

Burial will be held at a later date at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery, Huntington, IN.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Family LifeCare Hospice, Berne, IN, in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
